Husband and wife vocal duet, Soprano Sandra Bengochea and Tenor Christopher Bengochea will be the special performers for Opus no. 116. Enjoy a beautiful performance and our signature multi-course, paired dinner, all-inclusive $95.
This fun opera couple has performed together many times, and bring their love for each other as well as their love for opera to the scene. They both are equally comfortable on the operatic and the concert stages, enjoy performing together, and will inevitably deliver an unforgettable performance.
Soprano Sandra Bengochea as been described as having a “natural vivacity and charisma that resulted in a performance that was a joy from the first note to the last” (Opera News).
Ms. Bengochea is a recipient of the Friends of Music Scholarship, National Hispanic Scholarship, a Palm Beach Opera Finalist and Gerda Lissner finalist. She received her Bachelor’s degree from San José State University, and holds a Master’s Degree from The Manhattan School of Music. She is also a music Professor a the San José State University Department of Voice. she has performed over thirty operatic roles, She also dedicates part of her career to being a stage director.
Tenor Christopher Bengochea, has been said to have "power, sure intonation, and fine diction that come in a package tied with a ribbon of natural sound” by Janos Gereben of the San Francisco Classical Voice.
This Basque American tenor holds both American and French nationality, and began his musical career as a pianist. He moved into the study of opera during his time at Montana State University and later the University of Montana.
After becoming an award winner at the Northwest Regional Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and winning third prize at the Internationale Societa Concertistica Vocal Competition in Santa Margherita-Ligure, Italy, he decided to pursue singing entirely. He has delighted audiences with his unique combination of vocal and dramatic interpretations in performances ranging from art song to opera around the world.
