Our Maestro Robert Ashens will lead a special New Year's Eve edition of the opera night with a great trio of singers. Opus 122 will feature a program of fun, lively, popular music of both opera and theater. Returning Soprano, Aimée Puentes, will perform alongside Mezzo-Soprano, Sally Mouzon, with a special guest Tenor!
Aimée Puentes is a Soprano specializing in opera, oratorio, and
musical theatre. When she is not onstage, she is working with
vocal students of all ages, helping them to find their voice.
The singer has a Bachelor of Music from SFSU and a Master of
Fine Arts from NDNU, and has performed with the San Francisco
Opera and the San Francisco Symphony. Her mother was her first
music teacher and Aimée has been singing from even since she
can remember, getting her first real role at age 11.
Aimée is a three-time West Coast finalist of The Metropolitan
Opera National Council Auditions, winner of the IIE International Vocal Competition and the Classical Singer magazine.
Mezzo-Soprano Sally Mouzon graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Russian Language and American History.
A native of Virginia, she joined the San Francisco Opera Regular Chorus in 1998.
Since then, she has appeared in numerous other solo roles with the Company, including the Second Priestess in Iphigénie en Tauride, in which she really shined, Marguerite and a Coal Gatherer in Louise, Second Noble Orphan in Der Rosenkavalier, Second Bridesmaid in Le Nozze di Figaro, and Sister Lillianne in the world premiere of Dead Man Walking, and also performed extensively in different operetta.
She also performed as a soloist with other opera and enjoys teaching preschool and elementary kids about opera.
